Our Clients Love Us

"The folks at Knox put on a new roof and new siding/gutters for us this past summer, at two different times with two different crews. We ran into a few roadblocks--like having to create a "cricket" on the roof to divert water to another direction, or having to bring in the "window guys" to stabilize old windows as new siding was going on. Matt and C'Koh just took care of it and brought in whoever needed to do the work--and they even managed to do all the work without damaging the flowers and shrubs! I would highly recommend them--excellent customer service and really nice people!"
Called Knox and set up an appointment with Heather to inspect an area of the roof with a possible hole reported to me by my gutter cleaner. Mark Savage phoned prior to the appointment to confirm appointment and arrival time. Mark found a bad area in a ridge cap and a vent pipe boot that was dry and cracking. Instead of making an appointment for a future repair he found some materials on his truck and made both repairs at that time. The charge was minimal and the problems were fixed. The whole experience with Knox was very positive. They made little to no profit on this job but created a long time customer. Now I know why you see their trucks and signs all over town. Give them a call on all your roofing needs. You want be disappointed."

FAQs

Buying a new roof for your home is a serious investment. We are happy to answer some of your common questions.

How can I guarantee my new roof will be installed correctly?

The most critical factor in a successful installation is the quality of the team you hire. At Knox Services, we guarantee a professional installation by combining factory-certified expertise with a rigorous, multi-stage quality control process. We don’t just hire "laborers"; we employ trained professionals. As a GAF Certified contractor, our team follows strict manufacturer guidelines. This certification allows us to offer premium warranties, such as the GAF Silver Pledge, which covers both manufacturing defects and factory-backed labor.

How long will my new roof installation take?

Most residential roofs in Lafayette can be torn off and replaced in 1-3 days, though complex projects may take longer. Factors like roof complexity, steepness, and materials affect timelines with asphalt shingles being fastest (1-2 days) compared to slate or tiles (up to a week or more).

Can you install a new roof over my old one?

We don't recommend this. While "overlays" are cheaper ($230–$300 per 100 sq. ft.), a full tear-off is generally recommended to inspect the deck and ensure a long-lasting seal. In fact, we highly recommend that all homeowners insist on removing all old materials down to the decking. This allows the crew to find and replace any rotted wood before the new system goes on.

When is the best time for a new roof in Indiana?

Spring and autumn offer the mildest weather, though professional crews can often work year-round as long as temperatures allow shingles to seal properly.

What areas do you serve?

Our Lafayette Knox Services office installs new roofs in Tippecanoe and all adjoining counties including: Benton, Carroll, Clinton, Fountain, Montgomery, Warren and White. The Brownsburg office services Boone, Hendricks, Marion, Morgan and Putnam counties.

Do I have responsibilities in maintaining my roof warranty?

What Do You Consider Best Practices in a New Roof Installation?

We adhere to manufacturer's guidelines. For instance, most manufacturers typically require specific nail placement (often 6 nails per shingle). We ensure nails are driven flush, not at an angle or too deep, which can tear the shingle. We also replace flashing around chimneys and vents rather than reusing old, corroded metal. Our roofing crews use synthetic underlayment rather than felt paper, and ensure "ice and water shield" is installed in vulnerable areas like valleys and eaves. These are just three examples. Ask us about other methods we use to make sure your roof is properly installed.

What Does Your Quality Assurance Process Entail?

1). Shingles should be perfectly straight horizontally and staggered vertically to prevent leaks. 2) We check that a metal drip edge is installed along roof edges to protect your fascia from water damage. 3) We verify that your ridge vents and the ventilation system are properly cut and clear of obstructions.
